General Motors will introduce a new direct-injection diesel engine
for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. The 6.6-liter
turbocharged engine will be a joint venture between GM and Isuzu and will
be manufactured in Ohio.

Detroit running back Barry Sanders has officially announced his retirement
from the National Football League. Sanders is less than 1500 yards away
from Walter Payton's all-time rushing record, but says his desire to leave
the game is greater than his desire to stay. The Lions have scheduled a
news conference at 1 PM eastern.

Car & Driver has a comparison test between the GMC Sierra 2500
and the SuperDuty Ford F-250. Despite the Ford's four doors and lower price,
the winner was the GMC due to comfort and payload capacity.
