Monday, January 15 Car and Driver has announced their annual list of the 10 Best cars. To be selected, the vehicles must be under $62,000 and must be available by January of 2001. This year's list includes the Porsche Boxter, the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Honda S2000, the Ford Focus, the Honda Accord, the Chrysler PT Cruiser, the BMW 3 and 5-Series, and the Audi A6 and TT. |

| Trail sled review |
Monday, January 15 SnoWest has published a review of the latest trail sleds. Polaris has made their 800cc engine available in a trail sled and has introduced their lightweight Edge chassis. Ski-Doo has introduced the MX Z 500 into the entry-level market. |

| Titan files Chapter 11 |
Monday, January 15 The Titan Motorcycle Company has filed for Chapter 11 debt protection. The company plans to continue normal operations during restructuring. Titan laid off 17% of its workforce last year and arranged for a six-month credit extension in October. |

| Dodge Ram Contractor Special pickup |
Monday, January 15 PickupTruck.com is reporting on Dodge's new "Contractor Special" version of the Ram pickup. The truck features a hybrid engine and powertrain, providing 15% better fuel efficiency and better performance than a conventional truck. It also includes the ability to function as a work-site generator delivering 20 kW of power. |

| Cat aquires Pioneer Machinery |
Monday, January 15 Caterpillar has purchased Pioneer Machinery, a forestry equipment seller. Pioneer Machinery claims nearly half of all forestry equipment sales in the southeastern US. Forestry sales among existing Cat dealer in this area will be consolidated while Pioneer will become a Cat dealer offering only forestry equipment. |

| 2002 Ford Thunderbird |
Monday, January 15 Ford debuted the 2002 Thunderbird at the North American International Auto Show. The new T-bird features a 3.9-liter V-8 engine and convertible top. The Tunderbird starts at $35,000. |

| XFL Prepares for Inagural Season |
Tuesday, January 16 The XFL, the football league created by the World Wrestling Federation's Vince McMahon, is in the process of finalizing rules in preparation for its Feb. 3 kick-off date. The league, which has eliminated fair catches and allows defensive backs to bump receivers downfield, started practice last week. |

| Molson & Coors to Merge |
Wednesday, January 24 Canadian brewer Molson Inc., will join with U.S. based Coors Brewing Company, less than a year after its partnership with Miller Brewing Company failed. The deal will give Coors 49.9% ownership of a US partnership, and will allow for Molson to continue competing with Labatts as the top Canadian import in the US. Molson will also produce beer for Coors, and continue to market the Coors Light brand in Canada. |

| Dennis Miller, Melissa Stark to Return for 2nd Season |
Thursday, January 25 The entire Monday Night Footbal broadcast crew will return for a second season, including comedian Dennis Miller and sideline reporter Melissa Stark. The program averaged a 12.7 rating, a seven percent decrease from the previous year's record low, but the male 18-34 viewership increased seven percent, the first increase in that demographic in six years. |

| London Themed Casino Planned in Las Vegas |
Wednesday, January 31 Las Vegas developer Turnberry Associates plans to build a 90,000 casino with a 535-foot high, 2047 room hotel along the Las Vegas Strip, on the site where the El Rancho was imploded last October. The resort will be London themed, and will feature replicas of Big Ben and the Tower Bridge. |
