If you’re a fan of Ken Jeong’s performance, you’ll definitely get a kick out of the extra’s, as there are numerous improv outtakes from several of his scenes, and several other quasi-interviews with him that are out there.

The highlight of the DVD, of course, is the movie itself, which is the best comedy I’ve seen in 2009, and possibly the last few years.  I think a lot went into making it that, from not over-hyping the movie coming out, leaving some of the best parts out of the trailer (while still making it funny), and using actors who aren’t quite yet household names (or weren’t). This, combined with some early positive reviews via social media, and Warner Brothers ended up with a hit on their hands, which actually exceeded my expectations, rather than failed to live up to them (like so many Will Ferrell movies of late).

Now let’s just hope they don’t take the typical Hollywood route, and decide they have to make a sequel…

Also featuring ROXY SAINT (of the Goth band Roxy Saint and the Blackouts) and Ultimate Fighting Champion TITO ORTIZ, ZOMBIE STRIPPERS is a sexy, bloody, hilarious good time!

Zombie Strippers was written and directed by Jay Lee, and will hit theaters April 18, 2008, albeit in limited release.  Unfortunately, I don’t think even Zombie Strippers is enough to get me back to Madison.

They recently had a chance to review a product called the Poultry Pal, which is basically an advanced way to make beer can chicken. 

Now, I can tell you from experience that beer can chicken is damn good eatin’.  But at the same time, I’d be a little hesitant to drop almost $30 for a pan to replace what I can do right now with a can that I was going to use anyway, so really doesn’t cost a thing.

But I am intrigued.  If anyone has any experience with a Poultry Pal, let us know what you think.

So we responded to one a couple weeks back, mainly because they called us a valued blogger, and asked for our address to send us something.  So I thought, “Finally, someone recognizes my value as a blogger,” and send along my address.  And promptly forgot about it, like I usually do.

Well, yesterday, a box showed up on the doorstep.  And I was curiously excited, because 1) like I said, I didn’t remember asking for anything recently, and 2) the box was good sized.

 So, I tore it open, and found…a bunch of bubble wrap. 

So I thought “Cool, it’s breakable.”  And I started pulling it out, and pulling it out, and finally, I found…

That’s right, a little jar of Redken For Men hair…stuff.  Texture putty, they call it.

Granted, there was a press kit in the box too.  But still, that big box got me all excited, and all I got was hair stuff.

Oh well, at least I thought it was funny.  And I got a blog post out of it.  I’ll post an actual review of the hair stuff when I get a chance to use it–I typically don’t bother getting “all done up” when I don’t expect to do anything but sit around in my office in my boxers all day.

Like its predecessor, National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze 2 is basically an excuse to show some naked chicks on screen, with average actors and a weak plot to round it out.  In other words, it’s exactly the kind of movie we like to watch when the hangover is screaming for something that isn’t going to require a whole lot of attention to follow along.

Some highlights include Vida Guerra (see below) and Danielle Fishel (unfortunately still fully clothed–when will Topanga do a Playboy spread?), famous “Oh, That Guy” actors Larry Drake, Chris Owen (aka “The Sherminator”), and Charles Shaughnessy all showing up, the best girls in the shower scene I can think of since Porky’s, and Kato Kaelin in his most memorable performance since…well, ever. 

In the end, probably not the best date movie in the world–but it’s great for an hour and a half that you really don’t care that you’ll never get back.

Since we’ve acquired a bit of a taste for slightly more upscale booze since then, we jumped at the chance to sample a bottle of Hendrick’s Gin when they contacted us a few weeks back.

Well, the bottle arrived last week, so we cracked it open while enjoying the Thursday night thrashing of the Packers.  And we noticed right away that this isn’t at all like the gin we had in college–and they’re damn proud of that.  In fact, the bottle came with a little booklet that said straight away “It is not for everybody” and our personal favorite, “Preferred by 1 out of 1000 gin drinkers.”  Right out of Marketing 101, that is.

We popped the cork out (which in itself is kind of cool), took a whiff, and…well, you could tell it was gin, but like everything else about it, you could tell it was a different kind of gin.  The smell was almost citrusy.

As we said, we’re not big gin drinkers, hence we’re not big martini drinkers.  So, in a nod to Winston Churchill, we assumed the fact that our local liquor store presumably has vermouth meant it was close enough to the right mix for our martinis, and away we went.

Now, I’d like to tell you that we proceeded to down the whole bottle over the course of the night, and finished the night passing out while watching some horrible B-movie on Cinemax.  But, as we were in the presence of Manlyweb spouses and offspring, and since we had our fill of fermented beverages a couple nights earlier, we pretty much left it at the one drink.  But that one drink of gin was far and away the best gin I’ve ever had.

And while it’s not likely that gin will become my drink of choice (I’ve grown rather attached to my whiskey, thank you), we definitely will recommend it to our friends that do regularly drink gin.  And I have no doubt that the Manlyweb spouses, who are more into martinis than we are, will more than willingly finish the bottle of Hendrick’s when the time comes.
