Even more impressive, he wasn’t even unconscious.  After crashing into a highway sign, he had trouble getting out of the car, and then grabbed it and refused to move.  Despite being significantly closer to the level classified as “fatal” than the level classified as “comatose.”

Obviously we don’t condone drinking to the level of a 0.491 BAC–hell, we don’t even encourage drinking to a 0.2 (any more).  And we never condone driving after you’ve been drinking.  But it still is pretty damn amazing.

This one isn’t even Entertainment related (unless you like train wrecks), but the link headline was what caught us–something along the lines of “Clinton Wins PA Primary; Now Needs More Cash.”  Ummm, can’t she just use some of that $109 million she and Bill have made in recent years, according to their tax returns?  Oh, they’re saving that for a rainy day, and would rather use hard earned tax payer donations (along with corporate bribes)?  Got it.

Speaking of train wrecks, Star Jones is filing for divorce.  I’m surprised it took this long, I’m amazed that it was her that filed (although I guess maybe Al Reynolds likes the lifestyle), and I wonder who’s sponsoring the divorce.

And of course, Miley Cyrus is writing her memoirs.  I wonder if it will be a coloring book, or just one of those books where you get the page wet and the colors come out, and parents call it painting?  Seriously, she’s 15 years old–how many memories can she have?

On the flip side, I also came across this article on Robot Vigilante - a bar owner in Atlanta has built a robot, dubbed the ‘Bum Bot,’ to help scare away the baddies in his neighborhood.  Crime around his bar appears to have gone down, but of course, he’s got the tree huggers up in arms:

 ”This is going to intimidate a lot of people,” says Rosetta Watkins, who used to live in a nearby shelter and has worked for Terrill. “You’re going to intimidate a lot more people than you’re going to help.”

And the politicians…

“”It’s a play for public attention for Rufus. He’s certainly got a lot of attention — but not the kind we need for housing, living wages,” says Anita Beaty, director of Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless. “This robot isn’t casting attention to the deep, deep poverty in Atlanta.”

 ”I’m appalled by the whole idea. It’s a sham and a shame,” says Beaty. “Rufus is using this for his 15 minutes.”

Even the cops had to come out and say something, with their spokesperson saying they haven’t had any complaints yet, but he risks charges if he intentionally sprays water on someone.

That’s right–take a dump in the alley, smoke some crack by the daycare, rob the bar, no problem.  But shoot water at someone who’s lurking around after dark, likely with the intent to do something not so good, and you’ll face charges in Atlanta.

The study indicates that men who ejaculated more than five times a week were a third less likely to develop prostate cancer later in life.

And, to top it off–intercourse may not have the same effect.

So, next time your wife catches you looking at internet porn, and asks what you’re doing, you can tell her “I’m just preventing cancer, honey.”

Even our most frequent hangout, known for beer, wings, and owls, has fallen prey, recently bringing in an Xbox, and has regular Guitar Hero tournaments.  We typically sit in a back corner and mock those playing, and wonder how they expect to make money from a bunch of kids who order pop with no food?

Anyway, this past weekend, we stumbled onto what I think may be the ultimate waste of money–guitar maker Peavey has introduced a line of Guitar Hero controllers, made from…real guitars.

My only hope is that I’m there when this finally happens at our local bar:

To be specific, they’re trying to make it a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $250 to hang a pair of fake nuts from your trailer hitch.

The idea and motivation, however, came from a constituent upset that his young daughter had caught sight of the facsimile sex organs and asked what they were.

“I didn’t know what to tell her,” Spruill said, quoting the constituent, whom he refused to identify.

“I said, ‘Sir, I’m going to be a laughing stock, but I’m going to do it,’” he said.

Well, at least he got one thing right that day.

Now, in reality, the Manlyweb Cruiser doesn’t have a nutsack hanging from the hitch (and we sure as hell ain’t forking over $50+ to get a pair in brass or chrome), nor do we live in Virginia, so the law wouldn’t really impact us here.  But it still seems absolutely ridiculous that people who are being elected to run a state spend time debating something like this.

1) The piece of “artwork”, valued at 2 million Euros (which is somehow damn near $3 million US dollars), was a pure white canvas.  Not a Mona Lisa, not a Starry Night, not even a Dogs Playing Poker–just a pure white canvas.  Excuse me while I run to Home Depot to get a gallon of pure white–I promise I’ll sell my “artwork”for less than $10,000 a pop.

2) The vandal, Cambodian-born artist Rindy Sam, told the court “ “I just gave it a kiss. It was an act of love, when I kissed it, I wasn’t thinking. I thought the artist would understand.”

Then, to distance herself from drunken vandals who recently broken into another French museum and punched a hole in a Monet painting, she released this statement:

“On the one hand you have a revoltingly bestial act of cruelty, on the other a pure, intense act of love. Rindy’s gesture was an artistic act provoked by the power of art.”

That’s right, she’s apparently referring to herself in the third person.

3) Meanwhile, the prosecution demanded a 4,500 euro ($6,300) fine, with the lawyer for the plaintiffs claiming  “I expect compensation for my clients, the artist Cy Twombly whose work has been altered, the Lambert collection whose exhibition was ruined by this business and Mr. Lambert, owner of the work vandalised by Miss Rindy Sam.”

Apparently, artists are entitled to compensation even AFTER they sell their work–yet another reason for me to get back to the finger painting I loved as a child.  After all, it appears as though that’s pretty much what this Twombly guy does.
