University
of Houston freshman wide receiver Patrick Edwards was having a
great rookie season, with 46 receptions for a team high 634 yards
and four touchdowns. When the Cougars went to play Marshall, his
season, and possibly career, came to a gruesome end.
Going
for a touchdown pass in the third quarter, Edwards collided fell
speed with a metal cart placed beyond the endline of the end zone.
He suffered a compound fracture of the leg, and was taken to the
hospital, where he had a rod inserted in the leg.
