Swedish
Bikini Team - "It doesn't get any better than this."
So said the men who were brought
Old Milwaukee by the Swedish Bikini Team back in 1991. The
over the edge spoof of other beer commercials was...well...over
the edge. The campaign was pulled after a few months due to social
pressures...and a lawsuit filed by female employees of Stroh's
Brewery for running the ads.
Fortunately,
not all was lost for original Swedish Bikini Team members Uma
Thorensen, Karin Kristensen, Hilgar Oblief, Eva Jacobsen, Ulla
Swensen (wig wearing actresses Peggy Trentini, Heather Parkhurst,
Jean Frances, Anna Keller, and Avalon Anders)--they appeared twice
on Married with Children, and did a pictorial for Playboy
in January 1992. And the team lives on today with a Swedish
Bikini Team Web site.
St.
Pauli Girl - St. Pauli Girl is a German beer that found
a unique way to use sex to sell--they included it in their logo.
The St. Pauli Brewery was built in the 17th Century, and the beer
was introduced to the US in 1965. In 1977 they introduced the
St.
Paul Girl poster, and they've been updating her look almost every
year since. And don't forget to check out the 2006
St. Pauli Girl.
Miller
Light Cat Fight - The Miller Light Cat Fight ad featured
Kitana Baker and Tanya
Ballinger debating the age old question of Tastes Great/Less
Filling while ripping each other's clothes off in a fountain -
what's wrong with that? The girls certainly got their 15+ minutes
of fame--they have appeared in the WWE and have appeared in Stuff
Magazine.
Coors
Light Twins - Elaine
and Diane Klimaszewski were featured in Coors Light ads. Not
nearly as exciting as the Swedish Bikini Team or Miller Lite Cat
Fight ads, but still pretty fun to look at.
Pamela
Anderson - Pamela got her start in Labatt's
Beer ads after she was spotted at a football game wearing
a Labatt's t-shirt.
